Taking the photo
How do I get the best result?
- A bright spot: face a window so there are no shadows on your face.
- A plain, light wall. If you don't have one, hang a white sheet.
- Colored clothing, no glasses, no hat. A calm expression with your mouth closed.
- A friend using the rear camera gets the sharpest photo, but you can take it yourself too.
What does the app check?
Head size and eye level, background, light and shadows, sharpness, glasses, hats, headphones, hair over the eyes, open eyes, expression, and other people or hands in the frame. The photo is saved as a 600 × 600 pixel JPEG under 240 KB.
My photo came with a warning. What should I do?
The warning says what needs fixing. We recommend fixing it and retaking the photo: checking and retaking are always free. If you're unsure, choose "Mütəxəssis yoxlaması" (Expert review) in Şəkillərim (My photos).
The camera doesn't open
Open your phone's settings, find "My GC Photo" and allow camera access. Then close the app and open it again.
How do I photograph a baby or a young child?
Tap "Yeni şəkil çək" (Take a new photo), then choose "Körpə və ya kiçik uşaq" (Baby or young child). Lay the baby on a white sheet, or cover a car seat with a white sheet. The app takes several frames and picks the sharpest one.
Prices and purchases
How much does it cost?
- Your first photo is free.
- Each photo after that: $2.99.
- 12-month pass: $6.99 for unlimited photos for 12 months. It doesn't renew.
- Expert review: $4.99.
Checking and retaking are always free. Prices may vary slightly by country: the app shows the price from the App Store or Google Play.
How do I restore my purchases?
Menu (☰) → Haqqımızda (About) → "Alışları bərpa et" (Restore purchases). Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account. This also moves the 12-month pass to a new phone.
How do I get a refund?
Payments are handled by Apple and Google, so they also handle refunds:

Expert review
How does it work?
Open a photo in Şəkillərim (My photos) and choose "Mütəxəssis yoxlaması" (Expert review). An expert checks the photo against the official rules, and you get the answer as a notification within 24 hours. If it doesn't pass, we explain why and your next photo is free. The photo is deleted 7 days after the answer.
Notifications
How do I turn notifications on or off?
Menu (☰) → «Lotereya bildirişləri» (lottery notifications). When it's on, we tell you when lottery registration opens and when results come out. You can also turn notifications off in your phone's settings. Expert review answers are always notified.
Privacy
Where are my photos stored?
Only on your phone. You don't need an account. The only photo we ever receive is one you choose to send for expert review. Details: Privacy Policy.
How do I delete a photo?
Open the photo in Şəkillərim (My photos) and tap "Şəkli sil" (Delete photo) at the bottom. Deleting the app deletes all photos too.
About the Green Card lottery
Is this an official app?
No. It's an independent app, not affiliated with the U.S. government. Green Card (DV) lottery entries are made only at dvprogram.state.gov. We only help you prepare the photo.
Do you guarantee my photo will be accepted?
The app checks the photo against the U.S. Department of State's official rules, but the State Department makes the final decision. We've put the rules in plain words on the Green Card photo requirements page.
